Lesson One: Fifth Years... Empty
PostSubject: Lesson One: Fifth Years...    Lesson One: Fifth Years... EmptyMon Jan 30, 2012 9:42 pm

Alexi bounced into class, a large- eh hem, fat tiger looking cat following closely behind. Now, Alexi isn't usually so sunshine and rainbows... okay. Fine. He is. But today was extra special because, he nearly cheered aloud, classes have started! And he was so excited to start teaching, his blond hair was almost glowing! He took a seat behind his desk, content to wait for his class to file in the room, though, the longer he waited, the more prominent his pout grew.

Inwardly, he could hear his mother berating him, telling him to- "Stop pouting this instant! Be patient and let them come, then- when they're here, give them hell." Huh. So maybe she was good for something other then cheating on certain things. But, meh. It didn't matter at the moment. His shoes landed on the desk with a thump as he waited for someone to introduce themselves, a huge and charming grin on his face. "Alright~! Ayame Osagawa! You're up."

Ayame was early to class about fifteen minutes before she needed to. Most of her teachers were completely used to it by now and never said anything. She would receive the best grades this year, she told herself. There was no room for failure. For the fifteen minutes until people were actually shuffling into the classroom, she moved her book, quill and parchment all around her desk, trying to find a set up that was just perfect. After all, the Japanese girl had always been somewhat of a perfectionist.

Once class finally started, Professor Laville looked up with his normal, rather large grin popped up on his lips. Her professor looked as chipper about the class as she was. "Alright~! Ayame Osagawa! You're up."

"Well, as you all know, I'm Fröken Tsuji's niece, the school Healer. We've lived in seven countries so far.. Oh, and over the summer, we stayed in Japan to visit where we're from and to visit my grandparents," the girl said with a sweet smile and enthusiasm running through her words. You really are boring, she told herself, I'm sure people have more interesting things in their lives! We need work on that!

Alexi grinned. "Great! Now, if you need any help at all this year, you can always ask me~. But call me Alexi, or even just Laville if you want." He stuck out his tongue in a surprisingly childish gesture, making it clear what he thought of the last suggestion. "Today, we'll be learning about..." He paused, a slightly bemused expression crossed his face before he scrambled for the papers the scattered his desk, his wand flying off to the left.

"Erm. Where'd I put it?" Another handful of papers flew off his desk before a single paper lit up in bright orange. "Ah ha! I have found it!" Then he groaned and went looking for his wand, muttering a few choice words under his breath as he found it hiding under a table. With an apologetic grin, his shaggy haired mussed up, and his eyes alight with laughter, he looked like a naughty child after doing something wrong.

"The spell we are learning today is called, the Vanishing Spell... if you couldn't tell, it makes things vanish. Though it doesn't just go anywhere-" His arms going into the air to emphasize his point. "It has to go somewhere, so don't just Evanesco things away if you don't want it." His eyes widened.

"Damn. I forgot to tell you the spell. Evanesco is an O.W.L leveled Transfiguration spell that needs concentration. I'm teaching this spell first cause it's the hardest we will be learning this year. So..." He scratched his head sheepishly. "Yeah. An example, right?" His wand flew out, his left hand outstretched. "Evanesco derives from the word Evanescence, something that is fleeting or disappears, and the Latin evanesco, "disappear"."

A flower vase, something his Mother got him- a horrid thing used for this exact occasion. "Evanesco." He shouted cheerfully, a bright light flying from the top of his wand before hitting the vase, a second later dying down to show the vase gone.

"And that's that. Any questions?"

"Yeah. An example, right? Evanesco derives from the word Evanescence, something that is fleeting or disappears, and the Latin evanesco, "disappear"."

Ayame watched in amazement as he muttered the spell and the flower vase had simply vanished into thin air. And in an instant, there were questions flying around in her head. Some of the questions had to do with the properties of the spell and some had to do with the spell as a spell. Was it really difficult to make something disappear? Something told her it really would be..

"And that's that. Any questions?"

Her hand shot up in an instant, eagerly awaiting him to call on her. Once she heard her name, she smiled. "Professor, I have two questions. The first one is when you use Evanesco, where does the item go? And the second one is when you use the spell, is there a limit to the size of what you're trying to make disappear?"

Alexi grinned in amusement when one of the only teenager in his class raised her hand, an almost eager look on her face. "Professor, I have two questions. The first one is when you use Evanesco, where does the item go? And the second one is when you use the spell, is there a limit to the size of what you're trying to make disappear?" He thought for second, head cocked to the side in thought.

"That's an interesting question Missus." He murmured, beaming a grin at the girl as he twirled his wand in the air. "Not many people think like that. But, to answer your question, there's no real answer actually. No one really knows where the items go when you Evanesco them away. Unless, of course, they try to Vanish a human." There was a thought. Maybe they'd use his mother as the demonstration.

"Most people seem to think that it disappears to a different room, or maybe dimension. You could research where it goes. You find out, and I'll give you an automatic A for the course. Not O, of course, cause then I'd get in trouble." He grinned again and bounced back to his desk. "As for your second question, it depends on how much power you put into the spell and how hard your will is. For an example-" He looked around the room, and found a large cabinet he was going to throw out.

He aimed his wand at the wooden furniture and directed his magic to his wand. "Evanesco." He growled out in eager enthusiasm, the difference between the first demonstration and the second remarkable. The cabinet was envoloped by a bright light, before disappearing the same way the vase did, except it had exploded in the ball of light.

"There we go." He laughed and faced the class once more. "Any other questions? If not, go ahead and partner up... just in case one of you-" This time the laugh came out a bit nervously. "Erm." He coughed uncomfortably. "Blow up?" He squeaked out before disappearing behind a disillusionment charm. "Any questions? No. Well, go ahead!"
