Lesson One: Seventh years Empty
PostSubject: Lesson One: Seventh years   Lesson One: Seventh years EmptySun Feb 05, 2012 9:32 pm

Once again, Freya strolled into class a little later than perhaps she should've. Seriously, next year she would have to remember to move the classroom to the seventh floor or something. Oh how she wanted to just Apparate from her office to her class, but that wouldn't do; she'd have students Apparating out of the school.

But all of the seventh years were used to Freya being late after having her as a professor last year. Nine times out of ten she would have her nose buried in paperwork and not even notice the time. Then, she would run down to the third floor and hope to Merlin she wasn't late. It was more a fifty-fifty with whether she'd be a few minutes late or not.

Luckily, when the former model entered the classroom, there was only a few students. A sigh of relief escaped her plump lips. After sitting down at the desk she used to hold the work she needed for charms she—wait, was that.. paperwork on her desk? Fucking Stabler! Again! This was the second time he put paperwork on her Charms desk! There was no way of getting around that man was there? As her green hues were glued to the paperwork, looking it over, she flicked her wand once towards the blackboard, the chalk levitating and writing down on the board:

Charms
Level Seven
Professor Littlefield

Eyeing the class every once in a while to check if everyone was there while she read the paperwork, she patiently awaited the arrival of the entire class so she could finally start the seventh years' first lesson of the 2030-2031 school year.

It being the first class of the year for Alastair, he didn't want to be late but, yet again, there he was, casually strolling down the corridor, not noticing that he was around ten minutes late now, and his sister was glaring at him from a corner of the classroom when he finally opened the door and entered, taking his seat at the front without needing to be forced to. He never did know what the big deal about sitting at the front was. "Sorry." He mouthed, knowing that Blair was still glaring at him, but he couldn't hold back a grin, as he turned to the blackboard to see what was written on it. Ah, Professor Littlefield or, rather, the Headmistress. He'd had her for Charms last year, too. Not too strict a teacher, in his opinion. Then again, the seventeen year old hadn't ever thought of a teacher to be strict unless they yelled at him when he did nothing...or did something and blamed someone else, but that was not the point. That one person he blamed always went along with it anyway. Must have not looked too good on his school report.

"Morning Professor. And may I say I'm definitely looking forwards to Charms this year." He gave her his sickly sweet smile he always gave teachers, and turned his head to quickly take a look around the class. Most of his friends weren't yet in, so it annoyed him to think that he was with the first half of the class that actually bothered to show up. Not that he would have done it, but since there was nothing else more interesting to do...he thought that coming to Charms would be a good enough thing to do, especially as he'd get to learn more spells-which hopefully could harm. Oh, thinking of harming the people he disliked the most...now that was a real daydream. Not the kissing-with-your-crush-on-a-fluffy-cloud kind of daydream, like girls had. Oh, no! He was one dark minded Slytherin when he put his mind to it.

And right now, sitting there staring at the board in a bored fashion, he decided that he'd amuse himself by imagining blowing someone's head off. Though those weren't the nicest of thoughts...

Of course Blair had been with the first to enter the classroom. Not that she particularly enjoyed, well, any of the classes she had, but she didn't like being late either. Being late meant crap grades, and crap grades meant failing her exams. Failing her exams meant a normal school-at least that's what her parents kept threatening her with. When the older-by-ten-minutes boy entered the classroom, she threw him a glare. Well, he had definitely taken his time getting there! She didn't even know whether he was going to show up in the first place but, in a way, she was glad he did. That way, she would actually have somebody to talk to rather than get bored in this lesson on her own.

Catching the grin and his mouthed 'sorry', Blair stuck her tongue out at him and returned to staring out the window, fully aware that the Professor was reading the paperwork on her desk, and waiting for everybody else to show up. This lesson would be an interesting one; the Headmistress' classes usually were, as there was nearly always somebody getting told off for doing something they shouldn't. An amusing sight, certainly!

Waiting for class to start, the girl leaned back in her chair and looked down at the wand she was throwing in the air and catching it easily. Fun! She wondered what spell it was they were going to be learning. Oppugno? Obliviate? Aguamenti? Avifors? Maybe...Rictusempra? She'd always wanted to learn that one! Her cheeks turned red at the sudden realisation at the fact that she'd listed some of the spells that others hadn't even heard of. This did like, make her some sort of geek, or something? She sure hoped not!

"Morning Professor. And may I say I'm definitely looking forwards to Charms this year."

"Glad you are, Mr. Creed, because this year will not be easy."

Freya stood up from her desk and and let out a sigh. This was going to be a rather busy and stressful year. Moving around so she was sitting on the font of her desk, she smiled at all of them. It seemed like everyone was there except for a Huffelpuff named Erika Tate. Not looking good for the Hufflepuffs.

"This year, as you know, you will be taking your Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test, or N.E.W.Ts, at the end of this year before graduation. If none of you know what you want to do at Hogwarts, I suggest thinking hard about your life because most of your classmates will have started in the profession of their choice upon graduation.

"The spells this year will not be easy. Your N.E.W.T.s will not be easy either. They are no walk in the park. You all need to study hard this year and do the best to your abilities."

A flick of her wand and the word "Tutumtego" was written on the black board as the chalk, magicked, had risen and seemingly wrote it all by itself. "Now for some House points I know you all want. Who can tell me about the Imperturbable charm and who can tell me about what the incantation of the spell means?"

(Just a little note, you actually learn Rictumsempra and Avifors first year, and then you learn Aguamenti in sixth year, lmao.)

PostSubject: Re: Lesson One: Seventh years   Lesson One: Seventh years EmptyMon Feb 13, 2012 5:36 pm

(Ahaha LOL! That's...quite funny XD)

Alastair's hand shot up. He loved points. A chance to beat the Gryffindors at another thing. "It's a spell that created an invisible barrier around a target. It's from the Latin words 'tutum', meaning 'a safe place' and 'tego', meaning 'to cover'. It's actually from a phrase; Tego Texi Tectum, meaning 'to cover, protect and shield'. Dunno what that'll be altogether. There's just so much you can ask a Slytherin to think about." He smiled cheerfully at the Professor, knowing...or at least hoping...that his answer was right, even though he didn't know how to put it together. 'To cover a safe place' sounded kind of dumb. Why would you need to cover an already safe place, right?

Zoning out, he leaned back in his seat, thinking of what Professor Littlefield had said about the careers outside of Hogwarts. Quidditch! Playing for one of the best Quidditch teams around! He just couldn't wait until that happened! A year to go and he would be set on doing what he wanted! Although, of course, the team he would pick out of the two that wanted him wasn't the one that he wanted to go to. Neither of them were. But he needed to start at one to work his way up to being good enough to be accepted by the Wimbourne Wasps, which were the real team he wanted to play for. Then again, it was all still Quidditch and, at the end of the day, it was still what he wanted to do when he finished school anyway. Better enjoy it until the reporters thought up a good enough career ending lie.

Idiots...

(Oh my god...I'm like such an idiot!:O Al you creep, did you just give me this account to laugh at me? XD You're so dead!! X3)

Blair sighed at her brother. Well, forever the smart-ass, it seemed. Only in Charms and DADA though; anything else he was kinda crap at. Unless he used magic to find out the answers. He was that...immature sometimes. Of course, the girl was about to put her hand up as well around the same time he did, and reply exactly the same; twin stuff really was pissing her off at times. Too bad he had been the one to answer first; she hated it when he did.

Glaring at the back of his head, Blair turned her attention back to the Professor to see whether Slytherin got any points for that answer. Not that she really cared about the points; she was more focused on actually learning something, but her curiosity often got the better of her. As far as she knew, her brother never before earned Slytherin any points, except for in Quidditch games. Which proved he wasn't that smart to begin with.

It's actually from a phrase; Tego Texi Tectum, meaning 'to cover, protect and shield'. Dunno what that'll be altogether. There's just so much you can ask a Slytherin to think about."

"Very good, Mr. Creed! Take fifteen points for Slytherin!" Freya said with a smile. Of course the former student wanted to see her old House win the House Cup and enjoyed them getting points, but she tried not to be biased. But as one of the only Slytherin Headmasters.. giving Slytherin fifteen points where she'd normally give ten once in a while wasn't going to hurt anyone. Usually no one ever noticed since Freya had always been rather fair with points, only taking them away when she had to, finding reasons to give out points.

"Now, today you will be practising this spell on your quills to start off with. I rather we start with making small barriers and then working our way up. When practising it, watch out for holes in the barrier and watch our for barriers too small and too large."

She watched everyone stare at her, wait, why wasn't anyone moving? Oh, right! She probably should have showed them the wand movement. As she scratched the back of her, she smiled sheepishly. "Right! The uh.. wand movement.. Probably should have showed you that, huh? Right.." Grabbing her wand and showing them the exact movement of the spell from two different angles, she sat back down on top of her desk after, "well, now you can start."

Alastair grinned. He was well aware that the professor didn't ever give fifteen points; it was always either five or ten. This made his grin only widen. If things went on this way, it was possible they'd win the House Cup. Though of course they would need to earn their points; thing which Alastair didn't always like doing. The only subject he'd be able to score points in was Charms. And Quidditch, even though that wasn't actually a subject, but a sport. Oh yeah. He would have planned to win every single Slytherin Quidditch match this year, if it weren't for the Triwizard Tournament. Don't get him wrong; he would have loved to enter the Tournament, but the more he thought about it the more impossible it seemed. It was probably because he was over-thinking it.

When the professor told him to get on with the spell, he pulled his wand out from where he kept it in his robe pocket and did the perfect swift movement for the spell, muttering a quick 'Tutumtego' as he then glared at his quill. It better have worked. It didn't look like it to him though, so he sat and stared at it for a couple of minutes. That until he felt someone beside him, and he came face to face with his twin sister. "What?" He pouted up at her, and watched to see what it was she was doing, while listening to what it was she would be telling him.
