Character background:
Stabler was born in New York City, New York, in 1986, to Joseph and Bernadette Stabler. When he was ten, his parents had become aware of his magical potential, and was soon shipped over to his Uncle Ian in London, who taught him about the magical world itself, instead of the few spells and potion skills he had. When he had turned eleven, he received his letter from Hogwarts, and on arrival was sorted into Ravenclaw, particularly for his investigative mind.

But his seven years of learning Magic has passed quickly. Out of school, Stabler was moved back over to the states to be raised once more by his mother and father, but was thrown out for marrying his Hogwarts girlfriend, Kathy. A year later, his father, a cop like Stabler was training to be, was killed. After that, he worked twice as hard in order to make the cut. Two years after being in uniform, he was promoted to Detective, and spent twelve years in the SVU, or Special Victims Unit, which specialized in sex crimes and crimes concerning children.

It was after his twelfth year on the SVU, however, that he arrested a man. One specific man. John Niles, a Wizard from England who was in New York for business had raped and murdered several children, unbiased on gender. But it was the SVU who stopped his rampage, with Stabler as the leading detective. Niles swore that he would kill Stabler's entire family when he was out, but he didn't believe the sick bastard.

Until he went home that night.

He walked in on most of his family raped and murdered, with several men still there, finishing up with his oldest daughter before killing her in front of him. And Stabler... snapped. Drawing his weapon, he killed all but one of them, only wounding him. He found out that Niles was behind his family's murder - his entire family's murder, he found out - before slicing the man's throat.

The next day, he quit the NYPD, and started traveling the world, killing many dark creatures and Wizards while hunting down Niles. It was after four years of hunting and traveling when he finally caught up with Niles. The coward begged for mercy before Stabler blew him to pieces with a blasting curse. After that, he moved to London and joined the Ministry of Magic's "Hit Wizard" organization, it's MSVU (Magic Special Victims Unit) for four years until he decided that he would try his hand at teaching.

At the ripe age of 41 in 2022, he became the DADA professor after the last went mad (no one knows why). Apparently he's broken the curse of the DADA position, since he's been teaching it for eight years now. While he still has flashbacks of his time both in the NYPD, the MLE's MSVU, and hunting down Niles, he still manages to be that guy both the students and the teachers go to for advice, or for some problem or another.

Because if you have a problem, he'll investigate the fuck out of it.
